1928 – “The Small Town”: an article about Poultney’s younger generation

January 13th, 1928, The Poultney Journal – The business manager of the local paper published an article almost 90 years ago that shed light on the feelings of the younger people in small towns, specifically in Poultney. In it, he addressed the desire young people often feel to leave their hometown in search of something more and how more often than not, those young people end up coming home, searching for something they once had that is no longer there.

He also commented on how there appeared to be many people who “have been partially carried away by the growing craze for amusement, to be entertained, to be doing something and to be going somewhere.”
