Come Celebrate the 90th East Poultney Day!

The Poultney Historical Society will host its 90th Annual East Poultney Day celebration on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, from 9am to 3pm.

· This year’s theme is America’s 250th Celebration of the Revolutionary War in which both Vermont and Poultney played important roles. Our keynote speaker is historian Kevin Graffagnino, author of Ira Allen: A Biography. Ira Allen and his brothers not only played crucial parts as the Green Mountain Boys in the Revolution, but also in the settling of Poultney. Historian Ennis Duling will share local Revolutionary War stories.

· Long-time area educators Dale and Joan Prouty will explore Patriotism in the Classroom.

· “Colonial Photo. Booth” Kids can dress up in the Spirit of 1776 in a collection of tri-corner hats, aprons, vests, and bonnets.

The day will feature additional kids’ activities including an ice cream contest, a bounce house and art projects. Adults will find more than 20 vendors and farm fresh foods. Enriching the festival are two special musical performances by acclaimed Vermont singer-songwriters James Wolfe, in the morning, and Breanna Elaine in the afternoon.

Our three historic museums will be open all day with new exhibits and a return of the 1929 Poultney model  train. Don’t miss the charming mini diorama of Revolutionary War scenes by Cindy Whitman. There will be a special exhibit featuring Family Hunting Camps and Poultney Snowmobile Club’s history curated by Andrea Mott. Neighboring St John’s Church will be open on East Poultney Day from 11am-1pm.

And don’t forget the Poultney Historical Society Raffle, an important fundraiser supporting the work of the Poultney Historical Society. Grand Prizes include a Hubbardton Forge lamp, Telescope beach chair, a bottle of Bhakta Spirits, a large Alan Nyiri photograph, and $100 cash plus many more prizes donated by our local vendors.

As always, the day is full of education and entertainment, remaining an anticipated community event. We look forward to welcoming you to East Poultney Day!
